The Gattinetts is a small complex of industrial units and office units in the delightful town of East Bergholt on the Suffolk/Essex borders. Located roughly equidistant of Ipswich in Suffolk and Colchester in Essex, it is ideally placed for connections via the A12 and A14 trunk roads which link to all parts of the country including Central London, The Midlands and The North. Our location is also ideal for its ease of access to the busy sea ports of Harwich, with its links to Esbjerg and the Hook of Holland and Felixstowe, the largest container port in the world, as well as the famous seaside towns of Clacton-on-sea, Frinton-on-sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. About East Bergholt

East Bergholt is conveniently situated on the Suffolk/Essex borders, midway between the dockside town of Ipswich in Suffolk and the barrack town of Colchester in Essex. Located about a mile from the A12, in the heart of Constable Country its closest rail link is Manningtree railway station which is just a ten minute drive away. The mainline service to Liverpool Street station gets you into the Capital in just over an hour, making East Bergholt ideal for connections to London as well as to Norwich for its airport and Harwich for its ferry links to the continent.

An otherwise quite pretty and peaceful town, the bells of St Mary’s Church are said to be the heaviest A, G, F#, E, and D, that are rung in England today. Weighing in at 4¼ tons, they really do pack a punch.

About Colchester

Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town attracting some 4.5m visitors every year to its famous attractions like Colchester zoo and Colchester castle. As well as being a tourist location in its own right, it is also a dormitory town for London with the train from Colchester to London’s Liverpool Street station taking less than an hour depending on the time of day.

There is a busy shopping area in the town and a buzz to the place that keeps it interesting but at the same time, there’s an older, quieter side with its roots firmly fixed in culture, the arts and war. Colchester has been a garrison town since 43 AD and as such has many military installations in and around its centre. Today it is home to the 16th Air Assault Brigade, the British Army's premier rapid response formation.

About Dedham

The village of Dedham is picturesque in the extreme. Situated on the River Stour in north-east Essex, it lies at the heart of Dedham Vale. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and one that has featured in many of the paintings by John Constable, one of Britain’s best known artists. It is one mile from the A12 trunk road with its many connections as referred to above and four miles from Manningtree railway station with trains to London’s Liverpool Street station and journey times of just over an hour.

The village possesses a wealth of interesting architecture, and many of the buildings date back some 500 years to the height of the wool trade, on which the prosperity of the village was founded. Of particular note nowadays are the wonderful art dealerships and antiques shops as well as a number of really superb pubs and restaurants.

About Hadleigh

Hadleigh is now a small market town in Suffolk with a population of around 8000, most of whom came here after 1950 as the town began to expand eastwards with new housing. To the west, the town is bounded by the valley of the River Brett so expansion this way was deemed too costly at the time. As a result, western Hadleigh is known as Old Hadleigh, with new builds coming in the form of infill developments only.

Hadleigh’s fortunes have risen and fallen over the years until now when it tickles along nicely as a dormitory town to the larger ones around it. It is served well by public transport, mainly funded by the county council and has a good selection of baby/toddler and primary schools with many of the children going onto secondary school education in nearby Ipswich.

About Ipswich

A large and bustling town on the River Orwell with a commutable rail link to the London’s Liverpool St station, Ipswich has a lot to offer both the tourist and resident and now student, alike. A busy town centre caters for your everyday needs with many top brand high street names in evidence. Coffee shops mix with pubs and convenience stores, novelty shops, hairdressers and supermarkets line up alongside high street fashion and four times a week a market is held in the town’s central square.

The docks have been, and continue to be updated and are now very smart indeed. Many a luxury yacht and “Gin Palace” can be seen moored by the quayside which itself, plays host to numerous fine eateries and amidst all this, is the University Campus of Suffolk. (UCS)

A fairly recent development in Ipswich, the town’s college of further education has been crying out for an upgrade for ages and at last it has received it. University Campus Suffolk opened its doors to students in 2007 and ever since then, it has been attracting students from all over the country.

About Manningtree

Located on the south bank of the River Stour, on the border between Essex and Suffolk, Manningtree is possibly the smallest market town in England. It like many other towns in the area, has suffered mixed fortunes over the years. It was a thriving port in Tudor times and its architectures proudly display a background of extreme Elizabethan and Georgian wealth, much of which would have come from the cloth trade.

After the cloth trade came the beer and for two hundred years Manningtree was central to the areas brewing industry. This is still represented today though it must be said, on a very much reduced scale. Now a quiet and pretty little town, it benefits from direct rail link to London’s Liverpool Street station, therefore making it a very popular destination among commuters.
